サイモン エヴェリントン展　PURPLIN Simon Everington Exhibition

PURPLIN
このシリーズは木製のレリーフで、紫色に塗られています。
パープリンとは、ウイキペディアによると、「漫画『東大一直線』に出てくる用語で、頭がパーなのでまるで脳がプリンを意味する」、とあります。
今では死語となってはいるが、妻がその言葉を出した時、私にはその響きが気に入りました。そして半年間、毎日紫色を塗り続けた私は、少しパープリンになってきたと感じました。

This series are reliefs made of wood, and then painted purple.
According to Wikipedia, the Japanese term paapurin appears in the manga Todai icchizoku sen, and it means ‘head-crazy and custard-pudding brain’.
Although the expression is not used now, when my wife told me about it, I liked the nuance. And, after spending six months painting purple every day, I felt that I was becoming a little PURPLIN.

1987　常滑市、吉川正道氏（陶芸家）に師事
2000　英国、The Frink School of Figurative Sculptureで彫刻を学ぶ
